The Association of Liberia Community Radio (ALICOR), is seeking highly motivated individuals to fill three positions in its Secretariat and the Production Studio in Monrovia. ALICOR is a registered and recognized network of at least 60 community radio stations established in 2005. The overall goal of the Network is to improve the capacity of its members, support sustainability and professional conduct. Below are the vacant posts:

  1. JOB TITLE: Head of Secretariat/Coordinator LOCATION: Monrovia with occasitional field travels CONTRACT TYPE: FULL-TIME REPORTING to the President of ALICOR.

Job Purpose:

The Head of Secretariat is responsible for the overall management and coordination of the secretariat functions. This role encompasses strategic planning, operational efficiency, seeking funding support through proposal, and administrative support to ensure the smooth functioning of the organization. The Head of Secretariat will provide administrative and secretarial support to the executive, the staff and member stations where deemed necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist ALICOR leadership in developing and implementing a strategic plan aligned with the organization’s goals

  • Ensure the Implementation of administrative policies and procedures.

  • Ensure the secretariat operates efficiently and effectively.

Operational Management:

  • Supervise the Secretariat team, including training, and performance management.

  • Coordinate and oversee administrative functions such as office management/facilities.

  • Manage the secretariat’s budget and resources with the consent of the executives.

  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and organizational policies.

Secretarial Support:

  • Provide administrative and secretarial support to ALICOR executive team and member stations where deemed necessary.

  • Prepares agendas for board meetings in consultation with the executives

  • Support ALICOR to develop and implement business plans for the multimedia studio and radio syndication

  • Support ALICOR in developing budgeting, financial management, goal setting, and tracking results of its business model

  • Ensure ALICOR works with its member stations and the private sector to improve ALICOR business performance and financial sustainability

  • Manage confidential information with the utmost discretion.

  • Prepare correspondence, reports, and presentations with the consent of the executive

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with community radio members, media institutions, and other internal and external stakeholders.

  • Represent the organization at relevant meetings and events with the consent of the executives

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, administration, business, or a related field.

  • Experience working with radio; community radio stations is a plus

  • Proven leadership, management and strong organizational planning skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Proficiency in office software and management tools.

  • Experience in a similar role is preferred.

  1. JOB TITLE: HEAD OF PRODUCTION LOCATION: MONROVIA, LIBERIA WITH FIELD TRAVELS SUPERVISOR: HEAD OF SECRETARIAT CONTRACT TYPE: FULL-TIME, 10 MONTHS

Summary of Position:

The Head of Production has a pivotal role within the production facility known as the National Information dissemination Center (NIDC), responsible for overseeing the creation and dissemination of high-quality, informative content across various media platforms. This includes radio, video, print, and online channels. The Head of Production will lead a team of content creators, ensuring the timely delivery of accurate and engaging information to the Liberian public.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Content Coordination and Production: Oversee the gathering, development, and syndication of radio content, including leading story ideation, pitching, and coordinating weekly editorial meetings.

  • Coordinate the production of “Citizens Agenda and Policy Insight” programs focusing on thematic areas in health, agriculture, education, community development, water and sanitation, farm to market roads, promotion of peace, rule of law, democracy and governance, among others.

  • Multimedia Production: Lead the development of multimedia content, including videos, podcasts, and interactive online features. This involves staying abreast of the latest trends and technologies in multimedia production.

  • Social media: Manage the NIDC social media presence, ensuring it is active, engaging, and informative. This includes developing social media campaigns, monitoring engagement, and responding to comments and inquiries.

  • Quality Control: Implement a rigorous quality control process to ensure all contents are accurate, fact-checked, and free of errors (and in line with ALICOR’s objectives and principles)

  • Team Leadership and Mentorship: Provide leadership, mentorship and training to the content production team and community radio partners, fostering a creative work environment.

  • Operational Coordination: Coordinate with ALICOR Head of the Secretariat to ensure the smooth operation of the NIDC.

  • Prepare monthly and quarterly work plan detailing program ideas, content gathering, production and syndication plan for discussions and approval

  • Track, monitor, evaluate and make a monthly report to the Head of Secretariat and copy the president

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A bachelor’s degree in journalism, mass communication or related field.

  • Minimum of five years of experience in a senior content production role in a newsroom.

  • Knowledge and experience of radio journalism and production.

  • Strong understanding of multimedia production, including audio video editing.

  • Experience managing social media platforms and campaigns.

  • Ability to work under deadlines and coordinate production timeline.

  • Excellent communication (written and spoken) English

 

  1. JOB TITLE: STUDIO/ IT TECHNICIAN LOCATION: MONROVIA, LIBERIA WITH FIELD TRAVELS SUPERVISOR: HEAD OF PRODUCTION CONTRACT TYPE: FULL-TIME, 10 MONTHS

Summary/Responsibilities of Position:

The studio/IT Technician is responsible for overseeing all technical, IT and social media related work at the national Information Dissemination Center (NIDC) and the Secretariat. The Technician will work with the Head of Production and the Information Officer to ensure high-syndication of contents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure routine maintenance, installation/networking and repair of equipment at both the NIDC and the Secretariat.

  • Ensure all ALICOR equipment are maintained and up to date and managed efficiently.

  • Provide periodic mentorship and training to the production team and community radio partners on the use of studio equipment.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • AA degree from a recognized technical vocational institution and/or strong proven practical records in the field.

  • Minimum of five years experience in this capacity, preferably with a radio, television and on line platform.

  • Strong understanding of multimedia production, including audio video editing.

  • Ability to work under deadlines and coordinate production timeline.
