The Association of Liberia Community (ALICOR) has sent out a clarion call to Liberian Journalists in and out of Monrovia to uphold the ethics of good journalism during and after the Runoff Election.
With Liberia's democracy at a critical juncture, ALICOR believes that the accuracy and impartiality of reporting are essential in consolidating peace and good governance.
ALICOR acknowledges the vital role journalists play as primary sources of information for the public, as such, the media must demonstrate trustworthiness, especially in critical times.
ALICOR emphasizes the importance of factual and unbiased reporting and urges journalists to conduct themselves responsibly and professionally.
ALICOR's President, Mr. Hector Mulbah, stressed, "At this critical moment, community radio journalists must adhere to the principles of journalism. It is our collective responsibility to safeguard the integrity of our democracy." He added.
Journalists are urged to verify information from multiple reliable sources, avoid spreading unverified rumors, provide balanced coverage, and prioritize the public interest. They should also be vigilant in preventing the spread of hate speech or inflammable comments.
